Apex Barrel Racing 101

WHAT IS BARREL RACING?

A fan favorite within the sport of rodeo, barrel racing is an event that is known for quick turns, high speeds, and edge-of-your-seat excitement. This event is so competitive that the winner of the barrel race is determined by thousandths of a second!

A 4D Barrel Race is an event that is set by 4 different time increments.

Apex Barrel Racing will be setting full one second splits for this year's Spring Fling!

For example, if the fastest time set on the day is 16.55 seconds and the format is one second splits, the first division would be set by the fastest time e.g. 16.55 seconds.

  • So, if your time was between 16.55 and 17.55 you would be in the first division.

  • If your time was between 17.55 and 18.55 you would be in the second division.

  • If your time was between 18.55 and 19.55 you would be in the third division.

  • If your time was between 19.55 and 20.55 you would be in the fourth division.

Running a 4D means that everyone has the chance to win BIG, and everyone has the chance to win one of our champion buckles! (we have 12 up for grabs!)

We also pay out 1st to 4th place!

A 4D is the perfect opportunity for our lovely newbies to get into the sport, as everyone falls into a division where they run against similar horses and rider capabilities.

So whether you are a Barrel Racer, Campdrafter, Cutter, Show Jumper, Bush Rider or anywhere in between, we want to see YOU!
